Green Grocer Facade Program

The DEGC is undertaking the Green Grocer Project Façade Improvement Program as a redevelopment tool for Detroit grocery stores. The Green Grocer Project aims to improve the quality of the grocery sector through assisting grocers in addressing operational and store development needs to ensure the highest quality fresh affordable food in Detroit stores. Green Grocer Project Façade Improvement Program participants can receive 50% matching grants for making eligible improvements up to a maximum of $50,000.  Depending on volume of applications, awards will be made based on project feasibility, community impact, and opportunity to leverage other investments.

For additional information on the Program including a list of eligible improvements, a Fact Sheet provides more details.   Interested property owners, business owners, and tenants for Detroit grocers can complete and submit a Grant Application along with supporting documentation to the Green Grocer Project Façade Improvement Program, c/o Green Grocer Project Program Manager, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, 500 Griswold, Suite 2200, Detroit, MI  48226.
