The area just east of downtown along the Detroit River is undergoing a tremendous transformation. It was originally developed as an industrial and warehouse district using the Detroit River for transportation. It is being redeveloped as a premier residential district with a mixture of commercial and retail development to support it, and unique recreational development based on the natural attraction of the River as an international border and important connection between the Great Lakes.
The district runs from downtown along the river and south of Jefferson Avenue to the MacArthur Bridge leading to Belle Isle Park. Click here for a district map.
