BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

The Business Development team has two primary functions:
1) attract large scale and high growth corporate end users to the City of Detroit (i.e., Corporate Attraction) and
2) support the success of our larger scale existing commercial and industrial businesses (i.e., Business Retention & Expansion).

We focus our attraction and retention efforts on companies operating within our Prosperity Sectors, which are defined below. Prosperity Sectors were selected based on Detroit’s industry strengths (e.g., manufacturing and automobility), industries that have quality entry level and high paying jobs, and opportunities to expand the City’s corporate business ecosystem.

With deep insights and networks into Detroit’s various industries, we assess the advantages of setting up here and highlight critical regulations that are relevant to your business.

INCENTIVES

For eligible companies, Detroit offers several grants for research, training, and productivity, and incentives for pioneer activities, industrial land-efficiency, or corporate treasury.

CONNECTIONS

We can connect you with a wider network of agencies and partners (private companies) who can assist with business incorporation, taxation, legal matters and financial services.
