Detroit Data Coalition hosting data art show during October's Digital Inclusion Week

Updated: Mar 10

The Detroit Data Coalition is hosting a data art show called "Visualizing Detroit: The Art of Data," with the theme of this year's show being "Detroit Data Storytelling."

Participants are invited to use data from the Detroit Data Coalition re

sources to create original visualizations or data art pieces that tell a story about Detroit. Everyone who lives, works, or plays in Detroit is eligible to participate in this data art show, but you must use the trusted and vetted data contained in the resources listed HERE.

Submissions will be judged on their originality, insight, and use of data. The top three submissions will receive special mention in the virtual gallery, be featured in social media and local newsletters, be featured in the 2023 Annual Report of the Detroit Open Data Portal, receive one-hour mentorship from Data Driven Detroit, SEMCOG, DDP, or the City of Detroit's ODP team, and have the chance to be featured in the public kiosks managed by the Detroit Downtown Partnerships.

The deadline to submit your creation is November 8, 2023. The virtual exhibit will open on November 15 during the weeklong celebration of Detroit GIS Day (November 13-17). The virtual exhibit will remain open through March 2024.
