MEDA honors David White with 2026 Medalist Award

AUGUST 6, 2026 (DETROIT) – The Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA) honored David White, Vice President of Business Development at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC), with its 2026 MEDA Medalist Award on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The Medalist Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to economic development in Michigan.  Recipients demonstrate a sustained commitment to the profession, dedication to the communities they serve, and an extended record of achievement.

“David’s career reflects the qualities the MEDA Medalist Award was created to recognize: leadership, sustained achievement and a deep dedication to the community he serves,” said Mary Myers, President of MEDA. “MEDA is proud to recognize his contributions to Detroit and Michigan.”

In addition to attracting new investment, White leads a team that works with existing Detroit businesses to support their retention and expansion.  These efforts help protect local jobs, strengthen established employers, and deepen the city’s economic base.

“David brings an uncommon combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking and authentic commitment to Detroit,” said Alan Weber of the Detroit Regional Partnership, who nominated White for the award.  “He understands that successful economic development is not simply about completing a transaction.  It is about building trust, aligning partners, and creating lasting opportunities for businesses, workers and communities.  He is the kind of partner who makes everyone involved in a project better.”
